APPEARANCE

Shougo has always been naturally weedy looking since childhood, having been born slightly frail and being too much of a bookworm to spend a lot of time fixing this. Combined with them being a below-average height, they don't usually strike a very imposing figure. The most intimidating-looking part of Shougo is their dark red eyes, flickering between stoically calculating and simmering annoyance depending on the context.

Shougo generally defaults to wearing their shoulder-length blond hair in a low ponytail or bun. The majority of their clothing consist of academic wear suited for a college student trying to give the impression of being higher class, and they default to dressing in layers: sweaters over a button up or loose flannel over a turtleneck. They'll generally wear combat boots with their academia clothing if they're on an investigation, and indulge in the occasional trench coat for the detective aesthetic.

SUMMARY

Shougo is a highly perceptive and studious individual, and they try to speak with as much of a sense of intelligence as possible. They have a hunger for knowledge and . It’s easy to mistake this for them being cool and collected, but most of the time they're just anxious. Which might not always show in their voice, but talk to them long enough and the stoicism starts to crack. Sure, things such as gore and terrifying legends of monsters lurking in the dark rarely get under their skin, but they get flustered easily in the face of more mundane things like trying to calculate a tip at a restaurant or someone giving him a handshake for a bit too long. It takes a while for Shougo to get used to being around people, but they still seek validation and praise from their peers as much as they might hide it by (poorly) trying to act unbothered or annoyed.

Shougo is a meticulous perfectionist and holds themself to a high standard, but their confidence sadly isn’t high enough to back that up, which results in a crippling sense of imposter syndrome along with taking failure especially hard. They're quick to pin blame on themself rather than circumstances out of their control and end up working themself up into further anxiety as a result. Shougo is also a slight workaholic who loses track of time and their personal needs while focused on something, which definitely does not help their stress levels. Basically they're constantly burning the candle at both ends.

Their crippling insecurity and imposter syndrome also means that Shougo is frequently on edge, and that combined with their natural tendency to scrutinize everything means they can come off as particularly rude whether on accident or on purpose. They aren’t always one hundred percent sure how to phrase things delicately even when they’re making an effort to be nice, and when they aren’t they tend to curse up a storm and be extremely blunt. Their sense of identity is also a bit in flux, which scares them. They frequently worry about being a danger to people without even realizing it or that they’re actually doomed to be a monster regardless of what they try. They want to be a good person and make the effort to do so, but it’s always in the back of their head that they might not be.

Shou Shikabane. biological mother. The infamous serial killer The Romantic. She received several life sentences and resides in prison.
Hiroha Kishiyama. biological mother. A florist charged with aiding and abetting The Romantic. Shougo has visited with her occasionally since age 16.
Fuuka Suzuki. adoptive mother. A housewife.
Mari Suzuki. adoptive mother. A lawyer.

CHILDHOOD

TO BE POLISHED LATER but tl;dr the first ten years of Shougo's life with their bio moms was relatively normal and they were good to them, which made things extremely emotionally complicated when Shou was arrested for being a serial killer. They were taken to live with another family and the fact that they didn't have any hatred for their criminal moms despite the assumptions that they must have underwent abuse made them heavily concerned that something was wrong with them.

PRESENT

Shougo has a bachelor's in Forensics and is currently studying criminology. They also act as an assistant detective to a private investigator.

They don't exactly have the cool factor of a Sherlock Holmes or Columbo due to their Imposter Syndrome, but Shougo is a highly perceptive person with an understanding of forensics and criminology.

They like plants! Their venus flytrap might be their best friend right now.

TRIVIA

+Username Origins: Shou Shikabane purposely gave Shougo a very similar name to herself as a "Me Junior" sort of thing. Had Shougo not changed to going by their adoptive family name, their name would basically translate as "Corpse Child-of-Shou" hence. Corpse Junior.

+Birthday Fact: January 19th is the same day that the manga Detective Conan started publication.
